F3 Cup

2012 was a landmark year for F3 Cup and there couldn't be a better time to join the championship.

Run by MSVR, F3 Cup was awarded approval by the Motor Sports Association for full championship status in 2012 as part of the series' expansion plans, and a change to the regulations saw F3 Cup accept entries from chassis that were constructed and raced up to and including 2007.

F3 Cup consists of three classes - Cup 07 Class (cars built from 2002-2007), Trophy 01 Class (1997-2001) and Masters 96 Class (1981-1996). An Invitation Class is also available to enable cars of any age to race, subject to the approval of the organisers.

2012 also saw the acceptance of new engine derivatives, the Speiss OPC engine as used by the ATS Formula 3 Cup in Germany and the Toyota 3SGE-SXE10 unit used in the European F3 Open championship will be permitted. These engines provide a longer-life, increasing the time between rebuilds and improving reliability, helping to reduce costs for competitors. Other derivative engines will also be considered subject to written application, in order to give competitors and teams the option of alternative power units.

2013 sees the introduction of a new points structure amongst other small changes to continue building on last year's success. An excellent race calendar is available once again including Brands Hatch GP, Silverstone GP, Oulton Park, Snetterton 300 and, new for 2013, Zolder in Belgium.
