F3 Cup

The F3 Cup is set for major evolution in 2012 and it couldn't be a better time to be part of the series.

The MSVR run F3 Cup has been awarded outline approval by the MSA for full championship status in 2012 as part of the series' expansion plans.

Also for 2012, the F3 Cup will accept entries from chassis that were constructed and raced up to and including 2007. In 2011 entries were limited to Formula 3 cars built and raced up to and including 2004. All cars which race in the 2011 F3 Cup will continue to be eligible for the 2012 season.

A new class structure will be released shortly for 2012. However, it has already been confirmed that an invitation class will be created to enable cars of any age to join the series, subject to the approval of the organisers.

2012 will also see the acceptance of new engine derivatives, the Speiss OPC engine as used by the ATS Formula 3 Cup in Germany and the Toyota 3SGE-SXE10 unit used in the European F3 Open championship will be permitted. These engines should provide a longer-life increasing the time between rebuilds and improving reliability, helping to reduce costs for competitors. Other derivative engines will also be considered subject to written application, in order to give competitors and teams the option of alternative power units.

An excellent 2012 race calendar will be available to F3 Cup competitors, including Brands Hatch GP, Oulton Park, and the new Snetterton 300 circuit.
