Formula Palmer Audi Championship
With a proven track record as one of the leading training grounds for aspiring F1 drivers, Formula Palmer Audi is widely recognised as a superb platform for developing young talent.
FPA graduates have progressed their careers to Formula One, Champ Cars, DTM, British Touring Cars and World Touring Cars, and for the past three seasons an FPA competitor has been nominated for the McLaren Autosport BRDC award. 2008 FPA Champion Jason Moore has progressed to the new FIA Formula Two Championship for 2009.
As the cars are equal, the racing is close and overtaking frequent. The cars have 300 bhp from Audi 1.8 turbo engines and are fitted with the innovative "overboost" button that increases power to 360bhp for an eight second burst to aid overtaking and defending.
Up for grabs in 2009 is a £50,000 scholarship prize towards an FIA Formula Two drive for the championship winner, plus an official Formula Two test for the top three finishers.
FPA visits some of the best circuits in the UK and in 2009 will support one of the biggest events in British motorsport, the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport at Brands Hatch in May.
