Barnett lifts final Champion of Brands trophy of 2012

28/08/2012 - MotorSport Vision Racing (MSVR) witnessed its first winner of 2012 with Josh Barnett claiming the final Champion of Brands race of the season at the legendary Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit on Sunday (19 August).

The Formula Ford racer from Dorset has been the dominant force in the Champion of Brands this season winning three of the four races. However, his third victory coming on the 2.3 mile Grand Prix circuit at the Lotus Festival has proved to be his most cherished to date, securing the Champion of Brands trophy for 2012.

Victory on the famous Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit has been an objective of Barnett's for several seasons which made his eventual victory all the sweeter. The 21-year-old dominated the meeting securing pole position before producing a near perfect drive to clinch victory from Oliver White and Stuart Gough. Barnett was delighted by the triumph and is already looking to the future and the defence of his title next season.    

He said: "It feels pretty good to be the Champion of Brands for 2012. I've won the majority of the races this year so it has been a great season for me. I've been trying to win on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit for some time and to achieve it feels great as it is one of my favourite circuits. To do it in front of my sponsors too was good as there was a little bit more pressure than normal.

"The pressure will certainly be on for next year as I will be defending the title but I'm looking forward to it. I've really enjoyed the Champion of Brands and it has certainly increased my profile."
