MSVR makes the trip west for Races of Wales

05/09/12 - High speed Formula 3 cars, exotic Lotuses and thrilling tin top action will be on show for the MSVR Races of Wales at Anglesey International circuit on September 8.

The picturesque 2.1 mile International circuit will gear up to host its fastest action of the season with single seaters of the F3 Cup, which could threaten to break the lap record. They will also be joined by MSVR's thrill a minute Lotus on Track Elise Trophy, coupled with endurance races from the Club MSV Team Trophy.

Crucial championship points will be at stake for the field of F3 Cup drivers as they make their annual visit to Anglesey, with the title race hanging in the balance. Just 3.5 points separate the top two Tristan Cliffe and Chris Dittmann heading into round seven of the season and all eyes will be on the pair as they continue their battle to become the first ever F3 Cup champion. The pair are not the only drivers in contention to claim the coveted crown. Italian Gino Ussi, driving for the Welsh based Grays Motorsport team and Magic Motorsport's Mark Harrison are tied for third in the championship and eager to muscle their way into the title fight. While the battle for the title will be intriguing, there will be duels right the way down the field to keep an eye on.

The F3 Cup has fast become one of the most entertaining and unpredictable single seater championships in Britain with six different winners so far this season. FIA Formula Two driver Kourosh Khani dominated the previous round at the Brands Hatch GP claiming a double win.

The big question in the Lotus on Track Elise Trophy is whether series newcomer Rob Boston can be beaten. From a commanding pole position in the opening round, the former Clio racer and MX5 champion has only lost out on three occasions, and two of those were influenced by minor mechanical issues. In some cases his form has been imperious but this has only served to galvanise his opposition.

Most likely to take on the challenge this weekend is Andrew Bentley, another recent convert to Elise racing. Not only was he a double beneficiary of Boston's tough Oulton Park weekend but this form continued into the following round at Brands Hatch last time out.

Other newcomers to impress in a season of change are Martin Wills and Warren Scott, who featured strongly at Brands Hatch once more. Joining Boston from the MX5 ranks is Tom Roche and he could well break through today.

From the old guard Craig Denman is on home ground today and remains as quick and aggressive as ever, whilst Ken Savage can be relied upon to feature strongly in the top ten.

Finally the Club MSV Team Trophy will see an eclectic collection of saloons and hatchbacks make the long trip west to contest two 1 hour endurance races. The Club MSV Team Trophy is a series designed for novice racers making their first step on the motorsport ladder. So far this season the series has produced bumper grids and exciting racing to boot.
