Stunning Supercar selection for latest GT Cup battle

17/08/2012 - An impressive 10 manufacturers will be represented on the GT Cup Championship grid for the latest round of the season at the iconic Brands Hatch GP circuit this weekend (18/19 August).

A bumper entry of 19 cars are set to do battle around the famous Kent circuit in search of crucial championship points with spectacular super cars from Audi, Ferrari, Chevron, McLaren, BMW, Porsche, Mosler, Lotus, KTM and Dodge.

Reigning British GT4 champion Peter Belshaw returns to the championship behind the wheel of the striking ABG Motorsport KTM XBow. He rejoins the GT Cup for the first time since 2010 where his highlight was a Group 2 win at Spa Francorchamps. Belshaw heads to Brands Hatch fresh from a successful debut in the prestigious Spa 24Hour race, where his team finished an impressive 14th overall and ninth in class. The ABG team are blessed with stunning machinery this weekend with Jim Geddie taking to the track in his McLaren MP4 12-C GT3 monster which secured two wins last time out at Oulton Park.

Father and son Peter and Matt Seldon will be contesting their Serverware backed BMW M3 GTR at the meeting after a spell away from the championship. The Kent based duo last competed in the GT Cup at Brands Hatch last season, where they took the overall win in race two, they are hoping for a repeat of that success in the forthcoming triple header event.

Former GT Cup race winner Mike Donovan is another returnee in his Porsche 997. This will be Donovan's first GT Cup Championship race of the season, his most recent appearance in the championship was at Brands Hatch in 2010 and resulted in a win. This season Donovan has been competing in and is currently leading the Group C Championship, racing the historic 1988 Le Mans Winning C2 Spice SE88.

Phil Keen brings an American flavour to the grid with his Dodge Viper while Lotus are represented by Chris Randall's Europa. But the battle for the honours is likely to be fought out between Geddie's McLaren and the championship leading Ferrari 458 of Derek Johnston. The pair are the two drivers in form but they will face a challenge from Richard Chamberlain's Porsche 935, Jordan Witt's Chevron GR8, Nigel Mustill's Audi R8 and Kevin Riley's Mosler.
