F4 confirms first car order with Charlie Robertson
18/09/12 - The BRDC Formula 4 Championship has received its first car order just hours after applications were opened. Charlie Robertson has been confirmed as the first driver to sign up to MSV's groundbreaking new junior single seater series, which commences in 2013.
The Scottish-born 15 year old, who lives in Whyteleafe, Surrey, is currently leading the Ginetta Junior championship for HHC Motorsport, with six wins and nine podiums so far this season. This year marks his second campaign in the sports car series having finished as runner-up in 2011. Prior to this he came second in the KF3 Formula Kart Stars with a further three years in karts. Charlie is planning to build on his successful two year relationship with the Yorkshire HHC team, which is excited about expanding into single seaters.
Charlie Robertson enthused: "BRDC F4 is the perfect next step for me after two seasons in Ginetta Juniors. With 175bhp, adjustable wings and paddle-shift gears, the F4-013 looks fantastic. The championship looks great too - with relatively low costs, three races each weekend and reverse grids to spice things up. I can't wait!"
Jonathan Palmer, Chief Executive of series organisers MSV, said: "Charlie Robertson is the perfect calibre of driver to kick off our 2013 BRDC F4 grid - young, talented, successful and ambitious. I have followed Charlie's progress closely in Ginetta Juniors and have been very impressed - he is not only a very quick driver but intelligent and analytical too. The BRDC F4 Championship is the perfect step for Charlie and although new to single seaters I expect him to be running in the top six in his first season."
Orders for the new BRDC Formula 4 car, designated the MSVF4-013, are being accepted from Monday 17 September. Deliveries will be made on a first come first served basis and will commence at the end of January 2013.
