First team confirmed for new BRDC Formula 4 Championship
19/09/12 - Leading junior single seater outfit MTECH Lite has
confirmed it will run a two-car team when MSV's new BRDC Formula 4
Championship commences next year, bringing the total sold to
five.
The Midlands-based squad is part of the MTECH Group founded and
owned by motorsport enthusiast Mike Edmonds and managed by Les
Jones, who has enjoyed success in the sport at the very highest
level including working with Williams F1. Alongside its impressive
GT portfolio, the team has been competing in Formula Renault BARC
for several seasons and currently runs a four-car team.
In addition to its Formula Renault BARC commitments, MTECH Lite is
now looking forward to fielding two drivers in Formula 4 next
season as Team Manager Les Jones explains: "With the backing of
both the BRDC and MSV the BRDC Formula 4 Championship promises to
be something very special. We'll be racing on some of the best
circuits and supporting some top meetings too and I'm very pleased
that MTECH Lite are to be a part of it all from the very
start."
Jonathan Palmer, Chief Executive of series organisers MotorSport
Vision, said: "I'm delighted that MTECH Lite will be joining the
BRDC Formula 4 Championship with two cars. They are a very
professional team with a great deal of experience and clearly
recognise that F4 is now the compelling option for young drivers at
this level. I expect them to be front runners in what will be an
intensely competitive 2013 season."
MTECH Lite's order represents the fourth and fifth Formula 4 cars
to be purchased in just a matter of days, with the drivers of the
second and third cars to be announced shortly.
