The MSVR Lotus on Track Elise Trophy will kick off their 2008 season at the Brands Hatch Lotus Celebration on 23/24 March.
After an extraordinary inaugural 2007 season, in which every round was oversubscribed, the 2008 format will include at least two Elise Trophy grids at each race meeting. The Lotus Celebration will feature separate grids for class A (Production) and classes B/C (Modified/Super Modified), with four Elise Trophy races over the weekend.
Over 60 drivers have already entered including Martin Donnelly, the ex Lotus Formula 1 driver. Donnelly will once again be behind the wheel, after his successful outings at Donington Park and Spa-Francochamps in the Elise Trophy last year.
Andrew Kell from the Lotus on Track Racing Drivers Club (LoTRDC) said: “This is going to be our biggest meeting yet. The Lotus Celebration will have loads of attractions and events, including a parade of historic Lotus cars and a soap box challenge. We’re also expecting a good turnout from the Lotus enthusiasts’ community”.
On Easter Monday the 2008 Delphi British Truck Racing Championship will also be racing at Brands Hatch.
The LoTRDC is extremely upbeat ahead of the 2008 season. Andrew Kell said: “With over 90 drivers now signed up for 2008 and full grids already confirmed for Brands Hatch (supporting A1GP) in May, Oulton Park in June, Croft in September and Silverstone in October, it looks like the Elise trophy is really going to build on the success of last year”
